A good news for Meritorious students aspiring to do engineering course. All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE) notified Supernumerary Seats for Poor & Meritorious Candidates. That means 5% of seats in all Govt., private, aided, unaided, minority, non-minority engineering colleges should be reserved for meritorious poor students.

All students whose parental annual income is less than 2.5 Lakhs can utilize this facility. This seats are called as Supernumerary Seats. According to this new scheme, Students need to pay only university registration fee. The tuition fee to be paid to the colleges are waived off. SC/ST candidates need not even to pay this fee.

Once the student choose seat under supernumerary scheme he/she is not allowed to change the course or college. With cost of education is going up, this is a welcome step by AICTE to encourage & support poor meritorious students.

Karnataka candidates who are attending seat selection process under CET 2011 can avail this facility.
